Custom Merchandise FAQ

Questions Buyers Ask Before Starting a Custom Merchandise Project

Most project problems begin with an unanswered decision: the wrong product format, incomplete artwork, an assumed MOQ, unclear sample feedback or packaging discussed too late. These answers explain how we review and coordinate original merchandise projects.

How To Use This Page

Start with the question closest to your current project stage.

The answers explain decision logic rather than promise one specification for every product.

Still choosing products

Start with project scope and artwork questions. We can compare plush, acrylic, badges, pins, packaging and coordinated collection formats.

Preparing a quote

Review MOQ, price and RFQ questions so quantities, variants, packing and destination can be compared on the same basis.

Already sampling

Use the sampling, QC and delivery questions to organize approvals, revisions and production references.

Project Scope

What AIYYANG does and how a project begins

What kind of custom merchandise projects can you coordinate?

We work on original character and campaign merchandise including plush toys, plush keychains, acrylic charms and standees, printed badges, pin projects, magnets, packaging and coordinated product collections. Figure, card and gift-box projects can also be reviewed, but the production route depends on the exact design, material and evidence available for that category.

Are you presenting AIYYANG as a factory?

No. AIYYANG is the buyer-facing product development and supply chain coordination team. We help review ideas, choose product routes, organize sampling, coordinate suitable production resources, follow production, check quality and prepare packing and delivery. We do not claim ownership of a factory that we do not own.

Can you help if I only have an idea or character drawing?

Yes. Send the best material available and explain the audience, intended use, target price level and required date. We will identify which product formats are realistic and which missing views, dimensions, color references or construction decisions are needed before sampling.

Artwork & Product Development

Files, design adaptation and product decisions

What files should I send for a first review?

Send editable or high-resolution artwork when possible, front/side/back views for three-dimensional products, Pantone or approved color references, target size, quantity range, packaging idea, destination and required arrival date. If files are incomplete, label what is approved and what is still open.

Can you help adapt artwork for physical production?

Yes. We can point out details that are too small, too flat, too close to a cut edge or unsuitable for the selected material. Any adaptation should protect the recognizable character features and be approved by the buyer before it becomes a production file.

How do I choose between plush, acrylic, badges, pins or packaging?

Choose from the customer use, artwork complexity, target price, quantity, deadline and sales channel. Plush carries volume and character presence; acrylic preserves printed illustration; printed badges suit detailed artwork; enamel pins need simplified metal-and-color construction; packaging connects the range and affects fulfilment.

MOQ, Quote & Payment Planning

Why a useful quotation needs more than a product name

What determines MOQ?

MOQ can be driven by fabric, tooling, printing setup, hardware, custom color, packaging or supplier purchasing minimums. The number of designs also matters: one total quantity divided across many characters may create small quantities per SKU and more setup work.

Why can two similar-looking projects have different prices?

The visible size may be similar while pattern pieces, embroidery area, print layers, white ink, metal finish, hardware, labels, packing and QC requirements are different. A comparable quotation must use the same material, dimensions, design count, packing and delivery terms.

What information produces a more accurate quote?

Send artwork, product format, size, quantity per design, material or finish preferences, packaging, destination country and deadline. State whether you need EXW, FOB, DDP or another delivery basis. If the budget is fixed, share the target range so the product route can be adjusted honestly.

Samples, Production & QC

How approvals become production references

Is a sample always necessary?

For a new custom design, a physical sample or an appropriate production proof is the safest reference. Plush and complex assembled items normally need physical review. Printed products may use a file proof plus physical sample depending on color, finish, hardware, packaging and risk.

How many sample revisions should I expect?

There is no honest fixed number. Clear files and one consolidated feedback list normally reduce revisions. Complex character shapes, clothing, color matching, special hardware or late artwork changes can add rounds. Each revision should solve named issues rather than restart the brief.

How do you control quality during production?

We use the approved sample, production files and written specification as references. Checks may cover materials, dimensions, color direction, artwork placement, seams, stuffing, cut edges, hardware, labels, unit packing, quantities and cartons. Soft products also need agreed tolerances because no two pieces are mathematically identical.

Packaging, Shipping & Confidentiality

Decisions that protect the product after production

Can you coordinate custom packaging and retail labels?

Yes. Options may include tags, bags, backing cards, barcode labels, inserts and boxes. Packaging should be discussed before final approval because product dimensions, hardware, protective film, carton volume, display needs and legal labels can all affect the design and cost.

Can you ship internationally using EXW, FOB or DDP?

The practical route depends on destination, order size, product type, deadline and import requirements. We can compare common export and delivered options, but customs and final-mile timing cannot be guaranteed. The required receiving date should be earlier than the public launch or event date.

Will you keep my artwork and project information confidential?

Project files are kept within the working team and are not published as named cases without appropriate permission. Public case material is anonymized by default. Send confidential requirements clearly, and do not assume that a quote request automatically grants permission to use a brand name, logo or commercial result.

Still Need A Project-Specific Answer?

Send the artwork and commercial situation together.

Include product ideas, quantity by design, target size or price, packaging, destination and required arrival date. We will answer the questions that affect your actual project instead of applying a generic template.
